ABSTRACT

PurposeHumane entrepreneurship (HumEnt) has been theoretically proposed as a new model of entrepreneurship supporting the idea of an enlarged entrepreneurial strategic posture. The aim of paper is to frame humane entrepreneurial orientation's (HEO) characteristics by showing how firms apply the HumEnt approach, and to offer suggestions to build an HEO measurement scale.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopts a case study approach, focusing on five Italian small and medium enterprises (SMEs).FindingsThe study (1) identifies which are the characteristics of HEO strategic posture in the enterprises under examination;(2) shows that entrepreneurs' personal values and credos are fundamental to having an HEO strategic posture adopted;(3) provides indications on the development of a measurement scale through a discussion of emerging HEO themes.Originality/valueThe value of the study is that emerging themes of HEO strategic posture was derived from the analysis of five Italian SMEs. Entrepreneur's personal values have been proven to be relevant in the implementation of HEO. Based on the emerging HEO themes, the study contributes to the literature opening the way toward the building of an all-encompassing HEO measurement scale.

ABSTRACT

Limited research assesses the impacts of crises on hotels from the individual employee perspective, and hotel employee perceived crisis shocks (HEPCS) lack empirical investigation and scale development. This mixed-method research conceptualized HEPCS and validated a measurement scale for HEPCS through three studies. In Study 1, 99 employees from 24 hotels were interviewed. The results showed that HEPCS was composed of the six dimensions of perceived shock: performance, task, occupation, mental, health, and family and life. In Study 2, the initial measurement items for HEPCS were generated, and 313 valid responses were collected for exploratory factor analysis. Study 3 had 931 valid respondents whose data were collected for confirmatory factor analysis and validation of the factor structure generated in Study 2. This research provides a new perspective and valid measurement scale for hotel crisis impact research as well as a theoretical basis for the establishment of hotel crisis response strategies. ABSTRACT

Telecommuting Trailed During COVID-19 Pandemic In order to make telecommuting the new normal, it is essential not only to change the legal system and employment contracts, but also to reform organizational processes. This paper focuses on "perceived autonomy"in organizational processes. Prior research has demonstrated a positive correlation between telecommuting and perceived autonomy, but it has been difficult to determine what specific factors affect autonomy based on the measurement scale of the questionnaire alone. In this paper, therefore, we conduct a survey of attitudes through unstructured interviews to elucidate the mechanism. To this end, this paper is organized as follows: (1) to review previous studies on telecommuting and identify the advantages and disadvantages of telecommuting that have been identified;(2) to examine changes in the environment and attitudes of telecommuters based on interviews conducted with employed telecommuters;and (3) Examine changes in telecommuters' attitudes toward autonomy. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

Purpose>Brick-and-mortar store is an essential channel to deliver a seamless shopping experience and meet customer's dynamic needs in omni-channel retailing. This paper aims to understand customers' expectations of the integrated stores and develop a measurement scale to assess in-store service quality in omni-channel retailing.Design/methodology/approach>Grounded theory methodology (GTM) is employed to obtain a clear picture of consumer expectations and preferences regarding the omni-channel brick-and-mortar integrated stores. Then, an integrated store service quality scale is proposed, refined and validated using a questionnaire survey and structural equation model (SEM).Findings>The measurement scale is set to include seven dimensions: in-store environment, in-store technology, product information consistency, employee assistance, personalization, channel availability and instant gratification and return. The relationships among these seven dimensions and customer satisfaction and loyalty are also verified. According to SEM, product information consistency is more important for customer satisfaction while personalization contributes more to customer loyalty. The results demonstrate that by analysing the seven dimensions, retailers can better understand customers and further improve service quality.Originality/value>This paper proposes a sufficient measurement scale for in-store service quality and fills the gap in omni-channel retailing by capturing its integration attribute.

ABSTRACT

The emotional dimensions of health workers are emerging as a serious issue in academic discourse in the current decade. The World Health Organization (WHO) report underscores the significance of Emotional Stability among health workers as a factor affecting the performance of the health sector organization. Purpose. This study investigates the role of Emotional Intelligence on Performance through Psychological resilience in this pandemic situation of COVID19 in the Health sector Organization in Odisha, India. Method. Taking samples from public and private hospitals in Odisha 103 nurses’ were administered Schutte’s Self Report Emotional Intelligence Scale. The questionnaire has dimensions as Emotional Perception, Facilitating Cognition, Emotional Understanding, and Emotional Management. Findings. Regression analysis showed that the Emotional intelligence of health workers can be a predictive factor of Organization performance in the health industry. The nurses of different hospitals are proficient in taking on new challenges, they are also competent in adapting to any situation, they can recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and also they can treasure good humor during bad times. Principal component factor analysis showed that emotional perception and understanding as well as facilitating cognition used in regulating the overall performance of the hospital. Value of results. The amount of EI a nurse of a hospital has developed significantly impacts organization performance as a major part of the hospital nurses act as the central pillar of hospitals so they have a sense of understanding and can critically analyze patient behaviors and minimizes issues within the territory. ABSTRACT

Rapid household food insecurity (HFI) tracking has been identified as a priority in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. We report the validation of the Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Scale (Escala Latinoamericana y Caribena de Seguridad Alimentaria [ELCSA]) among pregnant women in Sri Lanka. The eight-item adult version of the ELCSA was translated from English to Sinhala and Tamil. Cognitive testing (on 10 pregnant women and five local experts) and psychometric validation of the self-administered HFI tool were conducted among pregnant women (n = 269) attending the special clinics of the Rajarata Pregnancy Cohort (RaPCo) in Anuradhapura in February 2020. We assessed the psychometric properties and fit using a one parameter logistic model (Rasch model analysis) using STATA Version 14 and WINSTEP software Version 4.3.4. Concurrent validity was tested using psychological distress. The scale was internally consistent (Cronbach's alpha = 0.79) and had a good model fit (Rasch items infit statistic range: 0.85 to 1.07). Item 8 ('did not eat for the whole day') was removed from the model fit analysis, as it was not affirmed by respondent. Item severity scores ranged from -2.15 for 'not eating a diverse diet' to 4.43 for 'not eating during the whole day'. Concurrent validity between HFI and psychological distress was confirmed (r = 0.15, p < 0.05). The self-applied version of ELCSA-pregnancy in Sri Lanka (ELCSA-P-SL) is a valid and feasible valid tool. We recommend it to track HFI among pregnant women in lower income countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
